Trip Hop is a slow tempo, hypnotic sound created by electronic backgrounds mixed with breakbeats or hip hop beats. The music also incorporates many jazz elements (instrumentation and chords) as well as borrowings from soul and R&B styles. Much trip hop incorporates the use of orchestral strings which has made it popular for cinematic or soundtrack use.
