The Sorcerer's Apprentice is a symphonic poem by Paul Dukas (1865-1935). The work depicts the story of a young apprentice who upon seeing his master depart, attempts to use magic unfortunately with disasterous effect. This piece was made famous when it was included as a segment in Walt Disney's Fantasia with Mickey Mouse playing the role of the hapless Sorcerer's Apprentice.
