Romantic Concertos Volume 1
Romantic Concertos Volume 1

Two first class piano concertos by Tchaikovsky and Grieg highlight this set of royalty free classical music.

Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor Op. 23, was composed in 1875. It was premiered in Boston during Tchaikovsky's journey to the United States in 1875. It is Tchaikovsky's most famous concerto mostly because of the indomitable main theme of the first movement (you will undoubtedly recognize this melody). Tchaikovsky actually incorporated a peasant melody he had heard being sung in the Ukraine. This melody became his famous opening to the concerto.

Edvard Grieg's Piano Concerto in A minor, Op. 16 was written in 1868 and premiered in 1869 in Copenhagen. It is one of his famous and most performed works. Like the Tchaikovsky concerto, Grieg's work also owes much of its popularity to a very identifiable opening theme (you will recognize this melody as well). It was important to Grieg that his music be accessible. He based many of his melodies on Norwegian folk music and indeed, his music seems to have a direct and immediate effect on listeners.

Instantly recognizable and constantly performed on the world's concert stages, these two concertos will add established masterpieces to your soundtrack toolkit.
