Pavane in F-sharp minor, op. 50 composed by Gabriel Faure in 1887. A slow and meditative piece, the Pavane is very effective as soundtrack. It has been used by the BBC as a title sequence for coverage of the World Cup (soccer) successfully playing the thrilling footage against the subdued and spiritual nature of the music. The Pavane is still very much in demand as a concert piece and is performed throughout concert halls of the world.
