Movement 2, Andante, String Quartet No. 14, (D 810) by Franz Schubert (1797-1828). The title Death and the Maiden by which this quartet is known, actually comes from this 2nd movement because it uses the theme from a Shubert song that also is titled Death and the Maiden (Der Tod und Das Midchen). This movement creates several variations from the song melody. As underscore it will work well with melancholy or sad moments.
