Movement 1, Adagio sostenuto, from Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor Op. 27, No. 2. This famous work, written in 1801, was dedicated to a girl with whom Beethoven had fallen in love (unrequited). The Moonlight Sonata is one of Beethoven's most popular pieces appearing as soundtrack in many films including Misery, The Pianist, Crimson Tide, and Being John Malkovich.

Mvt 1, Piano Sonata 14 (Moonlight Sonata) Beethoven is part of the Famous Light Classics CD collection
The solo and chamber music tracks presented on Famous Light Classics are all true masterpieces. These tracks have been chosen by film directors for soundtrack use multiple times throughout the history of film. Most of the melodies here are ingrained in our social conscious, we know the music because we've heard it for years even though we may not have been paying attention to the titles of the works. We instantly recognize the melodies. That makes for a powerful background underscore. Your production benefits from the cultural associations that people have with the music once you include it in your work.
