Movement 1, Allegro, from the Emperor Concerto, Piano Concerto No. 5 in E-flat major, Op. 73 by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). Written between 1809-1811, this first movement paints a bold, heroic mood. This is easily Beethoven's most famous piano concerto. It's been used as soundtrack in Dead Poet's Society and recently in The Assassination of Richard Nixon.

|
|
The heroic sound of Beethoven's Emperor Concerto leads this set of virtuosic Piano Concerti. A relatively early work by Beethoven, his Piano Concerto No. 1, Op. 15 in C major follows. The set is completed by the subline Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat major, Op. 19.
