Movement 1 from Symphony No. 1 in C minor, Op. 68 by Johannes Brahms (1833 - 1897). Brahms, feeling the heavy weight of Beethoven's legacy, worked on his first symphony for several years, destroying several attempted versions. The symphony is really an homage to Beethoven and is even sometimes referred to as Beethoven's Tenth Symphony.
