Movement 1 from Symphony No. 5 in C Minor (Op. 67) by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). First published in 1808. Perhaps second only to Vivaldi's Four Seasons, the first movement of Beethoven's Fifth Symphony is one of the most famous and most recognized pieces of music in the world. The opening C Minor motif in the lower strings is immediately gripping and ominous.
