Beethoven's solo piano piece popularly known as Fur Elise actually has the more formal title Bagatelle in A minor (WoO 59). Composed in 1810, For Elise became famous almost as soon as it was published. It's famous in the US because the Peanuts character Schroeder plays it for Lucy during the Charlie Brown Christmas TV special. Fur Elise has also been used as soundtrack in several films, most eerily in Rosemary's Baby. It also made an appearance in the Soprano's episode from 2006 - Cold Stones.

Fur Elise (For Elise) - Beethoven (Piano Solo) is part of the Famous Light Classics CD collection
The solo and chamber music tracks presented on Famous Light Classics are all true masterpieces. These tracks have been chosen by film directors for soundtrack use multiple times throughout the history of film. Most of the melodies here are ingrained in our social conscious, we know the music because we've heard it for years even though we may not have been paying attention to the titles of the works. We instantly recognize the melodies. That makes for a powerful background underscore. Your production benefits from the cultural associations that people have with the music once you include it in your work.
