The 1812 Overture (Main Theme) by Tchaikovsky commemorates the defeat of Napolean's army in Russia in 1812. The longer title for the work is Festival Overture The Year 1812 in E flat major, Op. 49. The work is performed every July 4th in America to celebrate Independence Day and is often augmented with the use of real cannon blasts. Our recording features the most famous and concluding part of the piece.
