Largo-Allegro, Mov't 1 from Piano Sonata No. 17 in D minor, Opus 31 No. 2 (The Tempest) by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). Named 'The Tempest' after Beethoven's death it is speculated that the title was inspired by the Shakespeare play of that name. Allegro con brio, Mov't 1 from Piano Sonata No. 21 in C major, Opus 53 by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). Beethoven dedicated this work to Count Ferdinand von Waldstein in 1804. It has since be known as the Waldstein sonata. It is considered one of Beethoven's greatest works.
