Mvt 1 Piano Sonata No 17 Op 31 No 2 (Tempest)
Largo-Allegro, Mov't 1 from Piano Sonata No. 17 in D minor, Opus 31 No. 2 (The Tempest) by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). Named 'The Tempest' after Beethoven's death it is speculated that the title was inspired by the Shakespeare play of that name. Allegro con brio, Mov't 1 from Piano Sonata No. 21 in C major, Opus 53 by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). Beethoven dedicated this work to Count Ferdinand von Waldstein in 1804. It has since be known as the Waldstein sonata. It is considered one of Beethoven's greatest works. It is also one of the more technically challenging of Beethoven's sonata output creating a thrilling atmosphere (10:58)

Adagio molto & Rondo, Movement 2 and movement 3 from Piano Sonata No. 21 in C major, Opus 53 by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). A short and solemn adagio 2nd movment gives way to a third movement which begins sweetly gradually becoming more thunderous. (14:56)
