There are three volumes of Beethoven Piano Sonatas in the UniqueTracks' Repertoire Series. This first volume, a 2 CD set, features some of his greatest piano writing.

Before gaining acclaim as a composer, Beethoven was known as a virtuoso pianist. His contemporaries were amazed at his style, calling it unorthodox and thrilling. He was able to transfer that unconventional style to his piano composition. Adagio cantabile, 2nd Mov't from The "PathÈtique" Sonata of Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). This is the most famous movement from the "Pathetique" sonata. It's a lovely melody and serves as a solemn and dignified background soundtrack. (5:05)
