Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart left a body of work second to none. His music is marked by clarity and balance. His style greatly influenced and helped define music of the Classical Era (1730 ñ 1820).
These Violin Concertos are among his most popular works. Though he only wrote five concertos for violin, they are all hallmarks of the standard concert repertoire.

Mozart was still a teenager playing violin for the Salzburg court when he composed the scintillating Violin Concerto No. 4 in D Major. Mozart would later give up his position in the court orchestra to a more skilled violinist named Antonio Brunetti and he rewrote this concerto for Brunetti to play. This new version was technically more challenging to perform.
Violin Concerto No. 5 in A Major is sometimes called the Turkish Concerto. This is because the third movement features Turkish music. The term "Turkish music" when used in European classical music of this period actually meant creating what for the time was an exotic effect which was loosely based on the military band music of Turkey (also known as Janissary music). In the case of Mozart's concerto, it refers to forceful and aggressive playing by the lower string players in the orchestra using the wood of their bows on the strings to create a percussive sound.
