Great Classics, Chopin, Volume 2 consists of two great Chopin orchestral works. This music is perfect for nature footage, images of pleasant social gatherings, happy couples, or anywhere where a harmonious mood is desired.
|
The collection begins with a suite of music from the famous ballet Les Sylphides. The ballet was created by famed choreographer Michel Fokine in 1909 for the Imperial Russian Ballet.
Though this work uses Chopin's music, it was not directly created by Chopin himself. Fokine used versions of Chopin's piano music which were creatively arranged for orchestra by the Russian composer, Alexander Glazunov.
Les Sylphides is considered one of Fokine's masterpieces and is performed yearly by ballet companies around the world.
This disc also includes a recording of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 2 in F Minor. Each of the 3 movements is fairly long (13 minutes, 9 minutes and 8 minutes respectively). This is perfect for very long scenes that need uninterrupted sound cues. (Nature footage or wedding footage for example) Of course you can always edit and use just a portion of the piece that fits your situation.
