This famous work, written in 1801, was dedicated to a girl with whom Beethoven had fallen in love (unrequited). The Moonlight Sonata is one of Beethoven's most popular pieces appearing as soundtrack in many films including Misery, The Pianist, Crimson Tide, and Being John Malkovich.

Movement 2, Allegretto, from Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 14 in C-sharp minor Op. 27, No. 2 is calm and stately in mood. This movement, though not as famous as the first movement, has an elegant and noble quality to it.
