Named the Pastoral Symphony, it is an attempt by Beethoven to transfer nature or country life into musical form. This first movement, with its folksy, rustic melody, shows off Beethoven's conception beautifully.

Andante, Mvt 2 from Symphony No. 6 in F major (Op. 68) by Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827). One of Beethoven's most beautiful and serene compositions. The strings play notes that emulate flowing water. Towards the end of the movement the woodwinds emulate bird calls including nightingale (flute), quail (oboe), and cuckoo (clarinet).
