The Air movement from Orchestral Suite No 3 in D Major by Johann Sebastian Bach (1685- 1750). This piece got its more famous name "Air on a G String" from violinist August Wilhelmj's whose late 19th century arrangement of the piece transposed the key from its original D major to C major. By doing this Wilhelmj was able to play the piece on only one string of his violin, the G string.
